Registration
All students who wish to participate in the New York Recruiting Consortium must register through the NYRC ‘08 web site. Your username is your college email address and your temporary password is nyrc (case sensitive). After you log in, fill out the brief profile. You will be able to create your own password for future use. If you have further questions that are not addressed in the information below, please contact Career Services, at 617.627.3299, career.services@ase.tufts.edu, or stop by Dowling Hall.

Submitting Resumes
You should first review the Employer Job Descriptions on the NYRC ’08 web site and decide whether or not to submit a resume for a particular interview schedule. Employer Job Descriptions, in most cases, provide details about the employer, the position(s) they are recruiting for, and position qualifications. Employers will join the Consortium until the resume submission deadline, so check the Web site on a regular basis for new additions. Only apply for interviews through the New York Recruiting Consortium if you can reasonably guarantee that you will be able to interview with these employers in New York City on Friday, January 11, 2008.

Application materials need to be uploaded in the Resumes and Documents section of the web site in order for you to submit your applications to employers. Then, if you believe you are qualified, submit all required application materials through the web site by Saturday, November 10, 2007. Application submissions must include all materials requested by the employer. Incomplete applications will not be submitted by the system.

Preparing an Unofficial Transcript

If the application requirements require the submission of a college transcript, you will need to create an unofficial transcript. Copy and paste your transcript information from SIS Online into a Word document. Upload your transcript document into the NYRC '08 web site.

Note: You absolutely MUST NOT alter your grades. Many employers will ask you for an official transcript later. Misrepresentation of any information is cause for revocation of recruiting privileges and disciplinary action by the Dean of Students. Additionally, companies have called Career Services to let us know that offers were rescinded because of false documentation.

Employer-Selected Interview
Students who were selected for interviews will be notified by e-mail by Thursday, December 13. Students who were selected as an alternate will be notified by e-mail by Friday, December 28.  If you do not receive an e-mail then you were not selected for an interview or as an alternate for an interview.

Scheduling Interview Times
Once you receive an e-mail notification of the interview(s) for which you have been selected, you may sign up for interviews through the NYRC ’08 Web site. Students selected for interviews must sign up for interview times by the Thursday, December 27 DEADLINE. Students selected as an alternate must sign up for interview times by the Saturday, January, 5 DEADLINE. Make certain you remember to record the interview date and time in your planner for future reference!

Policies
If you are applying for a position, it is assumed you will accept an interview offer and be able to travel to NYC to interview. Do not apply for any positions where this is not the case. The Tufts Career Services No-Show Policy is in effect for the New York Recruiting Consortium.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why may only seniors from the Arts, Sciences and Engineering participate?

A: The New York Recruiting Consortium was specifically developed for graduating seniors because the employers had indicated an interest in interviewing students graduating with a Bachelor's degree.

Q: Where are the interviews held?

A: Interviews are held in New York City at the American Management Association (AMA) Executive Conference Center, 1601 Broadway (Broadway and 48th St.). Maps and specific directions will be provided for students selected for interviews.

Q: How will I be notified about an interview?

A: You will be notified by e-mail only.

Q. Will my travel or lodging be reimbursed?

A. No. By submitting your applications to NYRC, you are agreeing to travel to the interviews on Friday, January 12, 2007 at your own expense.

Q: How do I register?

A: You should be registered at the NYRC ’08 web site. If your username and password is incorrect, please click on Forgot Password to have the information emailed.

Select the NYRC Jobs tab in the left hand column of the NYRC home page. Click on the name of the employer. The beginning of each listing will tell you what each employer requires: resume, cover letter, unofficial transcript, writing sample, etc. So whatever each one requires is what you need to upload into your Resumes and Documents section (see tab at top). When you are ready, you go back to the NYRC Jobs section, click on the employer name and go to the bottom of the listing and submit your materials. You must do that for each individual employer (you may apply to as many as you wish).

You will be notified if you have been selected for interviews by Nov. 28. You may sign up for interviews starting Nov. 29. You have until Dec. 27 to do so. You may check the status of your interview applications by clicking on your Events Calendar icon at the top of the page and then scrolling to the bottom and clicking on Interview Status.

Q: How do I find out which employers are participating in NYRC?

A: A list of participating employers and their job descriptions is available through the NYRC ’08 web site. This list is subject to change as we receive updated information from employers. Please refer to the job descriptions regularly prior to the consortium for the most up-to-date information.

Q: How do I submit a resume and cover letter?

A: Application materials are submitted electronically through the NYRC ’08 web site. Please read the employers descriptions carefully for details on the positions available and required application materials. The application deadline is Saturday, November 10, 2007.

Q: Some of the employers will also be recruiting at Tufts Career Services during on-campus recruiting. If I have submitted a resume to an employer for on-campus recruiting, may I also submit a resume for the New York Recruiting Consortium?

A: If you have already interviewed with an employer or know you will be interviewing on-campus, you should not interview twice. Some of the employers are interviewing for different positions at the New York Recruiting Consortium, so if you are selected to interview for different positions at different times you may go to both interviews. You should also decline an interview if you discover you have been selected by the same employer for the same position more than once.

Q: I’ve just accepted a job offer, but I’ve submitted applications to NYRC. What do I do?

A: If the Resume Submission Deadline has not passed, remove you applications submissions in the NYRC ’08 web site.

Q. If I was not pre-selected for an interview, may I still show up on January 11 to talk to employers?

A. No. Unlike a career fair, this recruiting event is a day of pre-scheduled interviews.
