Applying to Graduate School

People decide to go to graduate school for a number of reasons. It is important to remember, however, graduate school is more than simply an extension of undergraduate work. Your pursuit of a graduate degree (masters or doctoral program) should be driven by an interest in a field or subject. Graduate work is research-driven, and if you are not 100% committed to a more intensive study program, you may want to reconsider applying.

General Timeline. Allow yourself time to research schools and programs, ideally at least 18 months before your projected start date.  In doing so, you will be able to make more educated decisions about where to apply.
