Networking

Tufts Career Network for students

Networking—interviewing for information and building contacts—will introduce you to people and possibilities that may lead to an internship or job. Your network is not only the people you know; it’s the people they know!

The Tufts Career Network is a tool for students and alumni seeking career related information, insight, and advice. Members of the Network – alumni, parents, and friends – have agreed to share information about their careers, educational backgrounds, organizations, and job search techniques. Please read the guidelines and policies before logging in.

Please note: No form of soliciting, however worthy the cause, is an acceptable use of this database.

To access, you must log in to WebCenter. You will be asked for your student ID number and SIS PIN.

General Networking Resources

Networking Tips

  • 75-80% of all job seekers find their positions through referrals.
  • Networking can be used to gather information about graduate school or majors.
  • Networking contacts can include personal contacts, professional contacts, and other people with whom you have some affiliation, such as Tufts alumni.
  • Prepare for your networking encounters - both planned and spontaneous - to increase your chances of success.
  • Be strategic.  Be ready to respond to questions like "How are you?" or "What have you been up to?" in 30 seconds.
  • If someone asks you "Tell me a little about yourself," be prepared with a 2-minute pitch summarizing your education, key strengths/accomplishments (how they relate to an employer), and your career goals.
