Summer Guide - Rising Seniors

Ten Tips To Maximize Your Summer Break

  1. Rest, Relax and Rejuvenate.
  2. If you're still searching for a summer job or internship, create a target list of organizations where you'd be interested in working or interning; use our employer research resources to get started.
  3. Review our Online Workshops to brush up on cover letter writing, interviewing skills, and how to find an internship.  If you need resume, cover letter, or interview help over the summer give us a call at 617.627.3299 to schedule an appointment -- we're open all summer!
  4. Search the Tufts Alumni Career Network to seek out alumni that work in fields of interest to you.  Start building relationships and networking early!
  5. If you're interested in a specific field and want to learn more, arrange some one-on-one informational interviews with alumni.
  6. Start thinking about your career goals. Use our career research resources to help.
  7. Look at the Career Services calendar; populate your calendar with the events related to your career goals.
  8. Read the paper, trade journals and other literature with careers in the forefront of your mind. Collect articles about professions, companies or market trends you find interesting. Put your clippings in a spot with all your other career - related materials.
  9. Practice your 2-minute pitch summarizing your education, key strengths/accomplishments (how they relate to an employer), and your career goals.  Check out the Career Spots videos on creating your "Elevator Pitch."
  10. Enjoy the time you have with family and friends!

Tufts Career Fair - Friday, October 2nd, 2009

Save the date for the Tufts Career Fair where you will be able to meet employers and learn about job opportunities.  We know that this seems early, but many employers are looking for students to fill jobs after they graduate in May.

Job Listings & Campus Recruiting Program

The Campus Recruiting Program gives you the opportunity to interview with a variety of organizations for full time jobs.  Employers schedule interview days on campus throughout the year to interview seniors for employment after graduation. Employers with especially early deadlines include: Consulting, Finance, Investment Banking, and Engineering.

Login to Tufts Career Connect from the student home page to see which employers are recruiting on-campus and to learn important resume submission deadlines -- jobs will begin to be posted in later summer.  It's never too early to update your profile over the summer and check listings.
