Before the interview

Research the employer. Review employer web sites, read employer literature and periodicals, i.e. trade magazines and newspapers. Utilize Lexus-Nexus to access news sources for current information. Anticipate questions. Formulate answers that are thorough and accentuate the positive. Prepare questions. Asking well-thought-out questions communicates your interest and enthusiasm.

Types of Interviews

Behavioral Interviews are based on the premise that future performance can be predicted by past performance in a similar situation.  With increasing numbers of employers using Behavioral Interviewing, you should be prepared to tell your interviewer about past experiences that display your strengths and skills.  See the Commonly Asked Questions resource for sample behavioral interview questions.

Consulting Case Interviews are used to determine a candidate's problem solving abilities.  There are no correct answers to case questions.  The interviewer's goal is to get an understanding of how well you analyze problems, your thought process, your ability to deal with an overload of information, and your communication skills.  It's also a great way to see how a you handle stress and pressure.  To prepare for a case interview, the best approach is practice, practice, practice.
