Why should I log in to Jumbo
Jobs?
Here are five reasons you should start using this resource:
- Logging in to Jumbo
Jobs gives you
access to hundreds of internship and job listings
from employers who recognize the high value of a
Tufts education. You can even
set up
email alerts to let you know when new postings meet your saved
search criteria.
-
In Jumbo Jobs, you will
complete a
candidate profile (it takes
1-2 minutes to complete required fields)
which allows you to specify your interests and then
upload a resume so that employers can search for you
and contact you about specific opportunities that
match your profile.
-
You will be able to apply for jobs and
internships with employers who are coming to the
Medford campus to interview students.
- You will have access to a list of career
events happening around campus and details on
employers registered for career fairs on campus.
- Jumbo Jobs also allows you access to an
employer
directory of thousands of employers who have posted
at Tufts in the past. This directory is one great
resource for you as you seek to network and research
career fields.
Where do I log in / how do I
register?
Students: Log in from the
student home page. Use the
forgot your password link to access your password for the first time. Your username is you 9-digit student ID without dashes.
Alumni: Log in from the
alumni home page.
- If you graduated after 2006, you already have a profile in Jumbo Jobs. Call our office at 617-627-3299 to receive your username and
have your email address updated. As an alum, if you would like to have
your username changed from your Tufts ID, please email
tuftscareerconnect@ase.tufts.edu.
- If you have never used Jumbo Jobs before, click on the New

How long does it take to
complete my profile and why should I bother?
It should take you 1-2 minutes to complete only the required fields.
Why bother? Your profile in Jumbo Jobs could be your “in” with
a hiring organization. Take some time and think about how you complete your
profile.
For example, an employer is searching for sophomores or juniors
with an interest in research work with the Government in DC. They perform a
search and find 20 Tufts students who match their criteria. After reviewing
those students’ resumes, they contact their top five to set up phone
interviews. They hire one as a summer intern.
Profile Tips
- If you want employers to find you in a search, choose Yes to the Allow Employer Viewing field. You must also upload a
current resume in order to be searchable by employers.
- Make sure your contact information is up-to-date, especially your email address and phone number.
- Select your skills, languages, and student organizations. Employers use these fields when they search for candidates.
- Spend some time on the Preferred Industry, Job Function, and Geographical Location fields. Employers can search by these fields but cannot view them in your profile, so be inclusive to the extent that you are actually interested in all the areas you select.
Can employers view all the information in my profile?
Employers can only view your profile if the following
two conditions are met:
- The Allow Employer Viewing field is set to Yes.
(You may change this at any time.)
- You have uploaded a resume to your My Documents
section in Jumbo Jobs.
Once these two conditions are met, employers are able to view the following
fields in your profile: Name; Local Address; Local & Permanent City,
State, Country, & Phone; Email; Classification; Graduation Month & Year; Overall
& Major GPA; Degree; Majors; Work Authorization; Additional Education; Skills
Section (including languages and organizations)
Employers may search by the following fields but are not able to view these
fields in your profiles: Preferred Industry, Preferred Job Function,
Preferred Geographical Location. Employers may also search by Keyword,
Graduation Date, Majors, Skills, Class, Overall GPA, and Work Authorization.
Why can’t I find any job or internship listings when I set my search criteria?
A common mistake is to perform a search in Jumbo Jobs like you would perform a search with Google. With
Jumbo Jobs, it is better to
be inclusive rather than exclusive in your search terms. You can also set
up multiple email alerts so you know when new or updated postings meet your
search criteria. Jumbo Jobs calls these email alerts "Job
Agents". Once you have set your search criteria and clicked the Search
button, use the [Create Job Agent] link to set up email alerts. If you
create multiple Job Agents, Jumbo Jobs will compile the postings and
email you only once for each day your agents find new jobs for you. You
can manage your Job Agents under My Account - My Activity; click on the Job
Agents tab.
Can I still apply for a job that was posted three months or even six months ago?
Employers specify how long they want their job posting to remain in Jumbo
Jobs. If you notice the start date for the position has already passed and contact information is provided in the posting, email the employer to inquire about the opening. Write this letter as you would a cover letter, and attach your resume in your inquiry. It’s possible the job is still available, or the employer could be so impressed with you that they’re willing to interview you for a different position now or in the future.
Why do my search results include jobs that don't seem to fit my search criteria?
Many organizations are not just looking to hire one
type of student for a job. They actually want
applicants from many majors in order to have a
well-rounded candidate pool and employees.
Oftentimes an employer will be inclusive in their
selection of certain fields (such as choosing All Majors
or many job function categories) which might cause the
job posting to show up even when you set specific search
criteria.
Can I receive an email when new jobs are posted that meet my search criteria?
Yes! Jumbo Jobs calls these email alerts "Job
Agents". Once you have set your search criteria
and clicked the Search button, use the [Create Job
Agent] link to set up email alerts for new or updated
job postings that meet your criteria. If you
create multiple Job Agents, Jumbo Jobs
will compile the postings and email you only once for
each day your agents find new jobs for you. You
can manage your Job Agents under My Account - My
Activity; click on the Job Agents tab.
I've checked Jumbo Jobs and haven't found what I'm looking for. What should I do now?
Make an appointment with
the Career Center to discuss your
internship or
job search. Our team of
professional career counselors will help you find organizations that interest you, locate additional job & internship openings, and contact people in your field(s) of interest whom you can ask for career advice.
I can’t find a specific job for an employer interviewing on-campus. Where should I look?
Always start by clicking “Search All” from the drop-down menu under “Campus Interviews & Resume Drops”. This submenu gives you access to view all jobs and internships with
on-campus interviews or resume drops, whether or not you meet the requirements to apply. After you have ensured that you meet all of the criteria for the job or internship and you have uploaded all required application documents into your “My Documents” section, you will be able to view the position and apply by clicking “Apply” from the drop-down menu under “Campus Interviews & Resume Drops”. You will not be able to find the job or internship under the “Apply” submenu until you have all required documents uploaded, so don’t forget that step!
