Commonwealth Corps Internship Program

The mission of the Commonwealth Corps service internship program is to engage Massachusetts residents of all ages and backgrounds in direct service to strengthen communities, address critical needs, and increase volunteerism. Through hands-on experience, Commonwealth Corps members gain professional skills and valuable knowledge while positively impacting diverse communities in our state.

As a Commonwealth Corps member, you will serve 10.5 months – from August 16, 2021 through June 25, 2022 – at one of our host site partners throughout Massachusetts in the focus areas of Economic Opportunity, Education, Health & Nutrition, Youth Development, or Veterans’ Support. Corps members provide direct service, build capacity, and recruit, organize, and mobilize additional volunteers.

What makes a great Commonwealth Corps member? Past members have ranged in age from 18-74, and have come to the program from various personal, professional, and educational backgrounds, including current students, recent graduates, sector switchers, career-reentry, and retirees. What all Corps members have in common is a desire to discover their passion and build their network in service to their communities and the Commonwealth. We also focus heavily on members’ growth and development, so your motivation to grow personally and professionally will shape your service year and set you up for success upon completing the program.

What will you get in return? In addition to the opportunity to support your community and grow professionally, Corps member receive a modest living stipend, monetary completion award, health insurance (no monthly contribution; full-time members only), member assistance program (including 24/7 counseling services), access to ongoing training and resources, and more!
