Looking for to gain experience during the pandemic? Tufts alumni have answered the call and are providing opportunities for undergraduates in the School of Arts & Sciences, School of Engineering, and School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts! Students must be currently enrolled (not on leave of absence) to participate.
In continued response to the current health crisis, we’ve relaunched the Jumbos4Jumbos initiative whereby Tufts alumni offer projects/micro-internships/gigs that students can do to gain skills — many of which can be done remotely. Not only is Jumbos4Jumbos back, it is more streamlined and transparent than before on its new home, The Herd.
You’ll find these opportunities in The Herd under “Projects”. The Herd is our alumni flash-mentoring platform and was the perfect fit to continue with our Jumbos4Jumbos program. If you haven’t signed on before, you can create an account with your SSO and gain access to our alumni mentoring community in addition to accessing the Jumbos4Jumbos projects.
You can also look for longer term opportunities in Handshake by searching for the Jumbos4Jumbos label!
Alumni are continually adding more opportunities that range in duration, time commitment, and type of work so check back often to find the right project for you!
While the projects themselves can vary in length, each one should involve:
- Intentional learning objectives that are structured into the experience
- Promotion of academic, career, and/or personal development
- Industry related and soft skill development
- Clear expectations and supervisor feedback throughout the project
- Minimal administrative work (if any)
- A substantive professional experience
Remember, if you choose to apply and are selected for a project, it is not only a representation of yourself, but the student community that you follow through on your commitment.
