This article by Juyoung, a student from Boston attending Vanderbilt in Nashville, was written last year at the beginning of the pandemic. She writes a blog called ‘the fresh byte’ and wanted to give students an idea of ways to spend a summer if they didn’t have an internship or had extra time during the summer. Obviously, most of this advice is perfect for this summer as well. I have spent a lot of time telling students that there are lots of ways to build skills and be productive over the summer. Juyoung’s “12 Productive Things a CS Student Could Do During Summer Break” provides excellent ideas and links to get you started. I particularly like #3 on her list – Use Your College Career Center (I suppose I am biased). Don’t forget to check out Forage Virtual Projects as well. Have fun learning and gaining skills this summer.
