What is Jumbos4Jumbos?
Tufts alumni offer projects/micro-internships/gigs that students can do to gain career-related skills. Jumbos4Jumbos projects are available to undergraduates in Arts & Sciences, Engineering, and the SMFA. Students must be currently enrolled (not on leave of absence) to participate.
New this year:
Jumbos4Jumbos project-based opportunities will take place during our upcoming Winter Break from December 23rd – January 18, 2022. Students can apply to these opportunities by submitting a resume and cover letter to the alumni projects. Applications now open!
Great! How do I apply?
You will be able to find these opportunities in The Herd, our student-alumni flash mentoring platform, under “Projects.” Alumni have added opportunities that range in duration, time commitment, and type of work.
Each Jumbos4Jumbos project offers an opportunity to gain valuable work experience, focused on the following objectives:
- Intentional learning objectives that are structured into the experience
- Promotion of academic, career, and/or personal development
- Industry related and soft skill development
- Clear expectations and supervisor feedback throughout the project
- Minimal administrative work (if any)
- A substantive professional experience
You can also look for longer term opportunities in Handshake, including internships, co-ops, campus jobs, full and part-time jobs, and more.
Note about project start and end dates:
You’ll discuss the listed start and completion dates stated on the project summary if you are selected for an interview. The project supervisor and the student should also discuss the project scope and necessary deadlines so that they are clear and are mutually agreed upon in advance.
Remember, if you choose to apply and are selected for a project, you must follow through on your commitment as not only a representation of yourself, but the Tufts student community as a whole.
