Tufts University Employer Newsletter – December 2021

Dear Employer Partners,

The holiday season is upon us! As we wrap up the Fall semester, we would like to thank you once again for being a part of the Tufts community and for considering Tufts students for your recruiting needs.

As a reminder, Tufts classes end on December 14th, 2021, and students will be returning for the Spring semester on January 19th. We ask that employers conclude their virtual interviews and other programming by December 10th, 2021. Employers will be able to begin scheduling virtual interviews starting on January 1st, 2022.

Stay tuned for more exciting employer engagement programming this spring. Until then, please reach out to the Employer Relations team member associated with your industry sector to discuss spring recruitment plans.

Sincerely,

Employer Relations Team

🌻 Meet Tufts Students at the Spring Virtual Career Fair!

Tufts will be hosting its Spring Virtual Career Fair on Friday, February 11th from 1-4pm (EST) on the Handshake platform. Registration is now open for employers to sign-up for this upcoming recruitment event.

Register by December 15th to receive a $50 Early Bird Discount!

  • We will be hosting 100 employers maximum for the fair, so we encourage employers to register as soon as possible to reserve your spot.
  • We also recommend that employers plan to have at least 2-5 representatives attend in order to be able to host 30-minute group sessions in addition to 10-minute 1:1 individual chat sessions with students.
    • We encourage attending employers to host at least one group session as it is the most efficient way to reach larger groups of students. Each group session can have a different descriptive title if you want to use this opportunity to engage in a variety of topics such as general info session, Ask Me Anything panels, a session around a particular role you are hiring for, etc.
  • Employers should make sure to update their Handshake profiles with new jobs and internships well in advance of the fair date. In addition, please highlight any Tufts alumni representatives that will be representing your organization by listing their name, Class Year, and Major in your fair employer description.
  • Employers need to build out their schedules in advance of registration opening for students, which will begin on January 28th.  Students will be unable to sign-up for group sessions or one-on-one sessions until you have your built schedule finalized and visible in Handshake.
  • For more information and details about the event, please visit the Spring Virtual Career Fair page on Handshake.

🐘 Make the Most of the Spring Virtual Fair by Creating a Sponsorship

Want to attend the Virtual Career Fair but worried about getting enough face time with students? We are inviting employers to obtain sponsorships prior to the fair to promote their organizations and open positions to students. Sponsorships are limited and can be created at three different levels as outlined below:

💕 Giving Tuesday on Nov. 30th – Undergraduate Internship Challenge

Student internships can serve as a catalyst for exploration, growth, and even career choices. Many remain unpaid, presenting a barrier to entry. Jon Levy, E83, is looking to break those barriers by offering #TuftsGivingTuesday’s first undergraduate internship challenge. Join him, make a gift, and support opportunities for today’s students.

🐘 Jumbos4Jumbos Launches for Winter Break – Tufts Alumni Can Submit Projects by Friday, December 3, 2021

Jumbos4Jumbos is an opportunity for Tufts alumni to offer projects and micro internships that will provide current students with exposure to an industry or an opportunity to build new skills such as data analysis, marketing, etc. The program is managed via The Herd, where alumni and students engage in flash mentoring conversations. The site makes the process seamless and alumni are able to self-manage and monitor the process from beginning to end.

We hope that alumni with projects will consider offering them during the upcoming winter break between December 23rd – January 18th, 2022. Tufts’ spring semester will begin on January 19th and projects should conclude before the beginning of the semester.

Employers with traditional full-time positions and summer internships (remote or in-person) can still post those positions on our Handshake site for students and alumni to access and apply for per our usual process.

You will find information about the program along with an FAQ and full guide on our Employer Relations site.
