Tufts University Employer Newsletter – January 2022

Dear Employer Partners,

Happy New Year! We hope you had a restful and healthy break. We look forward to jumping into the Spring semester on January 19th when students return to campus.

If you have upcoming job or internship opportunities to recruit for at Tufts this spring, please reach out to the Employer Relations team member associated with your industry sector. We would be happy to connect with you about your recruiting needs.

We hope you will consider attending our virtual career fair on February 11th, as well, to get additional facetime with our students – see below for more information, and feel free to reach out with any questions about this event.

Sincerely,

🌻 Meet Tufts Students at the Spring Virtual Career Fair!

Tufts will be hosting its Spring Virtual Career Fair on Friday, February 11th from 1:00 pm-4:00 pm (EST) on the Handshake platform. Registration is now open for employers to sign-up for this upcoming recruitment event.

  • We will be hosting 100 employers maximum for the fair, so we encourage employers to register as soon as possible to reserve your spot.
  • We also recommend that employers plan to have at least 2-5 representatives attend in order to be able to host 30-minute group sessions in addition to 10-minute 1:1 individual chat sessions with students.
    • We encourage attending employers to host at least one group session as it is the most efficient way to reach larger groups of students. Each group session can have a different descriptive title if you want to use this opportunity to engage in a variety of topics, for example, a general info session, Ask Me Anything panels, a session around a particular role you are hiring for, etc.
  • Employers should make sure to update their Handshake profiles with new jobs and internships well in advance of the fair date. In addition, please highlight any Tufts alumni representatives that will be representing your organization by listing their name, Class Year, and Major in your fair employer description.
  • Employers need to build out their schedules in advance of registration opening for students, which will begin on January 28th.  Students will be unable to sign-up for group sessions or one-on-one sessions until you have your built schedule finalized and visible in Handshake.
  • For more information and details about the event, please visit the Spring Virtual Career Fair page on Handshake.

🐘 Make the Most of the Spring Virtual Fair by Creating a Sponsorship

Want to attend the Virtual Career Fair and increase your reach with talented Tufts students? Consider a sponsorship that will allow your organization to take advantage of additional opportunities to promote open positions to students. Sponsorships are limited and can be created at three different levels as outlined below:

☕ Spring Employer Coffee Chat – Accepting Topic Ideas!

Each semester, the Employer Relations team hosts an informal, virtual get-together with our employer partners to help spur creative engagement ideas and connect with colleagues across industries. We also hope to share what is happening at Tufts and ways for you to be involved and reach our student population.

We would love to hear from you about topics you would like to discuss at our next coffee chat later this spring. Past topics have included: Lessons Learned in Recruitment, The Changing World of Work Post-Pandemic, and DEI Recruitment Strategies.

Please click here to submit topic ideas.

🔧 Tufts Virtual Engineering Networking Night – Encourage Alumni to Attend

Tufts University will be hosting a Virtual Engineering Night via Zoom on February 17th from 6 pm – 7:30 pm. This event is for Tufts alumni from the School of Engineering to join us speak with current students about their career experiences and possible internship and employment opportunities.

Please encourage your Tufts alumni with an engineering degree to attend. The alumni must RSVP by February 15th and register for the event here.

Note: This event is not for human resources or recruiters to attend. If you are interested, we would welcome you at our upcoming Virtual Career Fair on Friday, February 11th from 1pm – 4 pm EST.

👍 Handshake Approval Guidelines

As we head into a new semester, we wanted to share some Handshake Approval Guidelines for employers wishing to connect with Tufts and post opportunities for students on Handshake.

Employers seeking to engage with Tufts University students and alumni by posting jobs, promoting events, and offering on-campus or virtual interviews must be an approved employer in the Handshake portal. If you are not yet connected with us on Handshake, check out these guidelines for employer approvals at Tufts.

Once an employer has been approved in Handshake, job/internship opportunities may be posted for review. Check out Tufts University’s approval guidelines for jobs, internships, or co-ops that students and alumni access through Handshake.

If you should have any questions about these processes, please reach out to Willa Mayo, Recruiting Coordinator at Willa.Mayo@tufts.edu.
