Internship Spotlight: Tellescope

Current Tufts student Cecelia Crumlish shared the following about being an Intern at Tellescope

What did you do as an intern at this organization?
At Tellescope I worked as a Software Engineering Intern, I primarily worked as a front end developer on a web-app for a health startup called Reversing2D, which guides clients through the process of reversing type two diabetes. I worked in a Typescript React development environment to create and test custom components overriding mui library components. I integrated components into the R2D web-app component library , and contributed directly in the development of the front end. Additionally, I spearheaded the company typescript Style guide and contributed to the Tellescope API Calendar.

How did you find this internship?
Tufts Computer Science Department Job Board Piazza 199

What did you enjoy most about your internship?
Having so much time to ask questions, and my mentor was both very accessible and approachable that made the difference.

What did you find challenging?
Before this internship I had had no web Development experience at all, I did not know Typescript, React-app or npm, I think the biggest challenge was being hoisted into a new development environment and learning everything I could to actually contribute meaningfully to a project. But it was so rewarding to see how far I was able to progress.

What advice would you offer to someone who wants to make the most of an internship like yours?
Reach out and lean on your mentors, you could spend hours and days trying to figure something out that they could help you with in minutes, you are not a burden to your mentors this is what they are there for.
