Current Tufts student Thawanda Malambo shared the following about being a Summer Intern at Innovations for Poverty Action

What did you do as an intern at this organization?
I Conducted research in order to analyze prominent factors that led to low Economic output in Zambia in the last 5 years.
I designed and Implemented a research data tracking system that enabled my team to effectively track their research data
I wrote reports on the research and presented to senior management.

How did you find this internship?
A former workmate told me about the opportunity.

What did you enjoy most about your internship?
Definitely the experience. I learned a lot about research and some of the economic struggles my country is facing. I also enjoyed meeting new people and learning about their experiences and different career paths

What did you find challenging?
Working with data can sometimes get very challenging if it’s not properly organized. I had to read a lot of materials and keep track of a lot of data.

What advice would you offer to someone who wants to make the most of an internship like yours?
Try not to procrastinate the work. Most times you are given tasks to do on your own and it’s very easy to leave it for later but it piles up quickly and you don’t want to rush through your work.
