City Year is an education-focused nonprofit that empowers young people to be dedicated mentors, tutors, and role models to students across the US. Founded in 1988, and now in 29 U.S. cities, City Year unites young adults in a year of national service. We believe that young people have the power to change the world, and we believe that national service is a valuable tool to tackle society’s most pressing problems.

Not only will you build strong relationships with your students, teammates, and partner teacher, you will also engage in leadership and professional development opportunities, developing yourself as a young professional and setting yourself apart from your peers.

  • Living stipend
  • Medical coverage
  • Loan forbearance
  • $6,495 education award upon completion of service year
  • Access to over 100 graduate school scholarships available to City Year alumni
