Mandy Rosengren E’20, BS Mechanical Engineering, Senior Solutions Engineer at nTop
- In just a few sentences, please tell us about your current job.
- I am Senior Solutions Engineer at the computational design software company, nTop. I’ve worked in the Customer Success team as a post-sales engineer for the past three years, starting in Onboarding where I developed training content on simulation, topology optimization, latticing, automation, and field-driven design and now as a Solution Engineer. In my current role, I work with customers to develop products using our software for applications such as lightweighting a bracket that will go into space, applying a lattice to an implant for better bone growth, or generating textures for consumer products such as sneakers.
- How did your time at Tufts influence your career journey?
- Before attending Tufts, I didn’t know I wanted to be an engineer. I joined Tufts originally in the Arts and Science School, and easily transferred to the engineering school. My time at Tufts Bikes solidified my love of understanding how the world worked and fixing things with my hands. My job as a Machine Shop Assistant at Bray Labs taught me many of the modeling and machining skills that drew me to additive manufacturing and nTop.
- What advice would you offer to a student who wants to pursue a career path like yours?
- If you are looking to join the amazing world of AM (or 3D Printing), I recommend looking for events near you and to know who your mentors/advocates are. My previous boss from an internship helped me get my foot in the additive industry by connecting me to an “AM Zoom Happy Hour”and that was how I reconnected with nTop and started my career here. Most people are excited to talk about their industry and are happy to provide suggestions and advice in your job search. Also, I am the Co-Ambassador for the Women in 3D Printing Boston Chapter, and I recommend attending our events as it is a great way to see the innovations happening in the industry, network, and make friends!
NOTE: Mandy is scheduled to come in person to our Design Networking Night on November 7. Come chat with her in person!
