The holiday season is upon us! As a reminder, we ask that employers conclude their on-campus interviews and other programming by December 10th, 2024. You can find the Tufts Spring 2025 Academic Calendar here.
We welcome an opportunity to speak with you about your spring recruitment plans — please reach out to the Employer Relations team member associated with your industry sector listed below.
Sincerely,

Spring Events Preview:

- Co-Op Panel and Employer Showcase — Thursday, February 20, 6 – 8 pm: Tufts University offers co-ops to students in our School of Engineering undergraduate and graduate program. We will host an event that will highlight co-op opportunities for students to apply to for Summer 2025 (June – December 2025). We encourage you to read the full descriptions of the undergraduate co-op program and graduate student co-op program. If you are interested in participating, please contact Sue Atkins, Associate Director, Employer Relations at susan.atkins@tufts.edu.
- Public Service and Social Impact Networking Night — March 6, 6 – 8 pm: This event will be an opportunity for students to network with professionals working in a range of social impact careers, including government, international relations, education, and non-profits. Organizations can also share information about open positions at their organizations, if applicable. We are interested in inviting a variety of employers, including Tufts alumni. We expect to see ~100 students at this event. If you’re interested in attending or have any questions about the event, please contact Sarah Reinbrecht at sarah.reinbrecht@tufts.edu.
- Green Careers Networking Night — March 13, 6 – 8 pm: Join us for Green Careers Networking Night, an exclusive event designed for college students eager to explore careers in sustainability and environmental sectors. We expect to see students with academic and career interests in environmental studies, engineering, business, and other fields with a focus on sustainability. If you would like to participate, email Associate Director of Employer Relations Susan Atkins at susan.atkins@tufts.edu.
- Communications, Marketing, and Media Networking Night — March 26, 6 – 8 pm: Employers and alumni in the communications, marketing, and media industries are invited to connect with students and provide more information about their organizations’ internships and jobs, industry trends and developments, and skills that will strengthen a student’s candidacy. We expect to have ~100 students in attendance. If you’re interested in attending or have any questions about the event, please contact Sarah Reinbrecht at sarah.reinbrecht@tufts.edu.
Quick Poll Results
In our last newsletter, we asked you to help us gather data on internships, co-ops, and early talent programs in various industries. As you will see in the chart below, the majority of employers reported that the number of internships/co-op roles filled has remained steady this year compared to past years.
Overall we received 28 responses from employers across a variety of industry sectors. A few employers noted that their numbers have decreased; some expressed that departments seem to be focusing more on higher level talent vs. developmental talent. Others cite budget constraints and lack of time/resources to train students for such a short time. Other organizations have grown in scope and thus are hiring a higher number of interns/co-ops than in previous years to account for the growth.
Jumbos 4 Jumbos
Jumbos4Jumbos is an opportunity for Tufts alumni from the School of Arts & Sciences, School of Engineering, and the School of Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts to offer virtual projects and micro internships to current students. The goal is to provide students with exposure to an industry or opportunity to build new skills such as data analysis, marketing, etc. The program is managed via The Herd, our student-alumni networking & mentoring platform. The site offers a seamless experience whereby alumni are able to self-manage and monitor the process from beginning to end.
We hope that alumni will consider offering virtual projects during the upcoming winter break between December 23, 2024 through January 17, 2025. Employers with traditional full-time positions and summer internships (remote or in-person) can still post those positions on our Handshake site for students and alumni to access and submit applications.
You will find information about the program along with an FAQ and full guide on our Employer Relations website.
Biotech, Health & Life Sciences Career Fair — Friday, January 31, 1 – 4pm
The 2025 Biotech, Health & Life Science Virtual Career Fair on Friday, January 31 from 1 pm – 4 pm is an opportunity for your organization to connect with, recruit, and network with early talent from Brandeis, Tufts, and Boston University with interests and desired career paths in biotech, healthcare, and life sciences.
This collaborative fair will be held virtually on our career management platform, Handshake. Not only does this provide a more intimate setting for you to meet with students, but you also have complete control over your schedule. Upon registration, you will be prompted to choose your virtual engagement format which includes:
- Group Sessions: Schedule 30-minute group sessions to meet with 50 students at one time, in one virtual room provided by Handshake (or your own virtual platform).
- 1:1 Sessions: Set-up these 10-minute one-on-one sessions prior to the fair to meet with interested students.
- Recruiters & Hiring Managers: We recommend that you have 1-5 recruiters attend this event as all 1:1 timeslots have been filled for employers for this event.
Please remember that employers must build out their schedules in advance of student registration. Students will be unable to sign-up for group and/or 1:1 sessions until you have schedules finalized and visible in Handshake. We are not responsible for students that attend the virtual event and are unable to access sessions.
For more information about how best to navigate this event, please review Handshake’s Virtual Career Fair Quick Guide for Employers.
Questions? Contact Susan Atkins, Associate Director, Employer Relations at Tufts at susan.atkins@tufts.edu. We look forward to seeing you there!

Spring 2025 Career Fair Sponsorships
This past fall we hosted a career fair where we saw almost 2,000 students attend to meet with 148 employers.
Please help us make this coming spring career fair just as successful. We invite you to create a sponsorship prior to the fair to promote your organization and open positions, internships, and jobs to students. You can select your Sponsorship package when you register for the career fair through Handshake.
*NEW* This year’s Gold Sponsorship has been updated to include the opportunity to table in our Tufts Campus Center and host an info session for students during the week leading up to our fair.
