Current student, Amora Velic, received a Career Center Internship Grant for her recent summer internship at the Boston Bar Association’s Volunteer Lawyers Project. Amora shared the following about being a summer intern:

What did you do as an intern at this organization?
As an intern, I got to work alongside staff attorneys as well as outside firm attorneys directly on family law and guardianship cases. I drafted legal documents during our clinics and conducted intake calls with our clients.
How did you find this internship?
I found this internship through LinkedIn.
What did you enjoy most about your internship?
I most enjoyed being able to get hands-on legal experience while also making an impact on our cases.
What did you find challenging?
I found it challenging to learn all of the terms and acronyms at first, but by taking notes and communicating with my team, I was able to quickly feel comfortable with all of the material.
What advice would you offer to someone who wants to make the most of an internship like yours?
Ask questions! The best part of my internship was being able to ask questions and learn so much from my team. Everyone was always willing to help me out, and I attribute my growth in this internship to my ability to acknowledge when I was unsure of something.
