Launch Your Career While Making Real Impact: Teach For America at Tufts

Looking for a leadership role that actually makes a positive change within your community? Teach For America offers something different than most entry-level jobs: paid opportunities where you lead from day one while supporting students in under-resourced schools and building transferable career skills that you can take with you to whatever you do next.

Why This Work Matters

In many communities, students face larger class sizes, fewer resources, and limited access to experienced teachers. You’ll step into schools where you will accelerate student learning and help kids build confidence in their abilities. This isn’t volunteering or a gap year – it’s community partnership that benefits everyone involved.

Two Ways to Get Involved ASAP

Ignite Fellowship (for current students):

As an Ignite Fellow you’ll tutor small groups of students virtually, using structured lesson plans and receiving weekly coaching. Help students with math, reading, or other subjects while building your own facilitation and mentoring skills.

  • Virtual tutoring during the school day, 3-5 hours/week
  • Earn $800-$1,200 per semester plus performance bonuses
  • Build relationships with K-12 students while developing communication and problem-solving skills
  • Perfect for exploring education or adding meaningful experience to your resume

Teaching Corps (for seniors and recent grads):

As a Corps member you’ll lead your own classroom, develop curriculum, track student progress, and often take on additional leadership roles like department coordination or after-school programming.

  • Full-time classroom teacher hired by local school districts
  • Earn $32K-$72K plus benefits and additional TFA support stipend
  • Two-year commitment with ongoing coaching and professional development
  • Launch your career while making measurable impact on student learning

Skills That Stick

Employers and graduate schools recognize TFA experience because it’s rigorous, selective, and service-driven. Whether you’re headed to medical school, law school, consulting, or anywhere else, you’ll build:

  • Communication: Explaining complex concepts clearly, building trust with diverse audiences
  • Problem-solving: Adapting quickly when plans change, finding creative solutions
  • Leadership: Managing responsibilities that directly impact others’ success
  • Organization: Juggling multiple priorities while meeting deadlines that matter

Your Network for Life

Join 70,000+ TFA alumni working across every sector. This isn’t just a LinkedIn connection – it’s a community of leaders actively supporting each other’s growth and collaborating on solutions to big challenges within their local communities and beyond.
