Work for the National Institutes for Health (NIH)

The mission of the NIH is to “seek fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems and the application of that knowledge to enhance health, lengthen life, and reduce illness and disability.

Each year, the NIH hosts 2-3 webinars to highlight internship and fellowship programs, explaining the eligibility criteria and application and selection process. Webinars are typically posted to the NIH website and can be divied in a variety of research areas of focus. Undergraduate and graduate students may be interested in the following programs :

The NIH also has a series of resources for inviduals who want to get their applicaiton materials ready such as a Guide to Resumes and CVs and a Guide to Cover Letters. There is also career content such as Career Planning for Scientists , Interviewing Skills for Scientists, Networking for Scientists

They also offer workshops to help you reflect on your past experiences and your future career goals. These are general/overview workshops appropriate for trainees at all levels and with interests in all employment sectors in the U.S. and internationally.
