Health Professions Scholarship Program — Northeast Army Medicine

Overview

A post undergraduate scholarship available to qualifying students who wish to earn professional degrees from accredited medical, dental, optometry, veterinary, psychiatric nurse practitioner, clinical or counseling psychology programs. Obligation is to serve a set amount of time as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army at the completion of school, residency, or board certification exams.

Basic Qualifications

Each HPSP category will have it’s own set of qualifications. The following requirements apply to all applicants.

  • Able to acquire a U.S. security clearance
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Medically fit to serve as a commissioned officer

Eligible Degree Programs & Benefits/Service Obligations

Service commitment varies by profession and is based on the length of the scholarship and/or training received. Below is a breakdown by specialty:

Medical

  • Pays for tuition, fees, and supplies
  • $2,999 monthly stipend
  • $20,000 bonus available
  • 87% first-choice residency match rate
  • Year‑for‑year service obligation equal to the length of the scholarship or residency, whichever is longer
  • 4‑year minimum service obligation if a bonus is accepted

Dental

  • Pays for tuition, fees, and supplies
  • $2,999 monthly stipend
  • $20,000 bonus available
  • Education opportunities
  • Year‑for‑year service obligation for each year of scholarship received
  • 4‑year minimum if a bonus is accepted
  • 3‑year minimum service obligation regardless of scholarship length

Veterinary

  • Pays for tuition, fees, and supplies
  • $2,999 monthly stipend
  • Attend advanced education courses
  • ½ year of service for each ½ year of scholarship received
  • 3‑year minimum service obligation

Nursing

  • Pays for tuition, fees, and supplies
  • $2,999 monthly stipend
  • Specialties include:
    • Family Nurse Practitioner
    • Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
    • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
    • Midwife Nurse Practitioner
  • 3‑year service obligation regardless of scholarship length

Optometry & Clinical Psychology

  • Pays for tuition, fees, and supplies
  • $2,999 monthly stipend
  • ½ year of service for each ½ year of scholarship received
  • 2‑year minimum service obligation
