Deborah Coughlin

Administrative Assistant

I’ve enjoyed being a member of the Career Center team since 2006. As the department administrator, I supervise our front desk and student assistants, handle all general office communications and manage overall operations of the department. I’m always happy to answer your questions about the Career Center, help you access any of our resources, or just chat — about Tufts or anything else!

I earned my BA in biology from Mount Holyoke College and a JD from Boston College Law School before making my way to higher ed. I am the proud parent of a 2016 Tufts grad and a 2019 Endicott grad, and when I’m not working, you can find me exploring antique/flea markets, reading, and adding to my jungle of houseplants.

Most interesting/unusual job: During my first job out of college I worked as a lab tech for Dr. Ralph Isberg at Tufts School of Biomedical Sciences. I learned a variety of research skills (including how to sequence DNA, which now takes a fraction of the time it took us), and I had a fantastic boss/mentor with a great sense of humor. I also got to tell anyone who asked that I was studying Yersinia pseudotuberculosis — reactions to that were priceless!
