OPPORTUNITY: The AO is seeking applicants for its Student Internship Program. The opportunity is intended to provide valuable work experience and prepare students interested in a public service career. The AO is looking for student interns with backgrounds and/or demonstrated interest in the following areas: human resources, public affairs, law, business administration (marketing, budget, accounting, etc.), and information technology. The student intern will have an opportunity to improve his or her writing, research, analytical, logical, multi-tasking, and customer service skills. Additionally, student interns are provided with several networking opportunities with fellow interns, agency employees, and other government employers.
All internships at the AO are on-site at the Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building (TMFJB) and telework is not permitted.
This specific internship will be with the Security and Facilities Policy Staff.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting policy staff with responsibilities staffing the Judicial Conference Committees on Judicial Security and Space and Facilities, to include substantive policy matters as well as logistical and administrative matters and drafting agenda items and committee reports.
- Assisting policy staff in supporting the AO’s Space and Security Advisory Council, on policy, operations, and administrative matters, and drafting agenda items and council reports.
- Regular attendance at meetings relevant to the work of FSO, often including AO staff from other offices.
- Assisting with researching legislative and administrative policy matters that impact the Judiciary’s security and facilities program and writing policy memoranda on these matters.
- Assisting on projects in support of court operations.
- Assisting with updates and organization of the relevant sections of the Guide to Judiciary Policy that pertains to the Judiciary’s security and space and facilities programs.
