Through the Berkeley Teaching Fellows Program, recent college graduates have the opportunity to work side-by-side with an experienced teaching professional in a high- performing environment and gain skills that translate into a successful career in education. We seek candidates who will be vibrant, contributing members of our community, and who are willing to learn and grow under the guidance of an experienced teacher/mentor.
The Berkeley Teaching Fellows Program is a competitive paid fellowship that can last for 1 or 2 years. Year 1 is spent observing, apprenticing, and collaborating with several Upper Division department members, and being closely mentored by a specific UD teacher. Each Fellow is also involved in all aspects of school life, including various duties and extra- curricular opportunities. During the summer after Year 1, the Fellow will have the opportunity to gain additional experience via the Berkeley Academy or our robust summer programs. The opportunity might exist for the Fellow to work in the Berkeley Academy before year 1. In year 2, theFellow will take on a specified number of teachingsections, and continue to work with a mentor in their respective department.
The application process is open to recent college graduates, and all academic majors are eligible. Placement opportunities exist in the following Upper Division academic disciplines: math, science, English, history and world language(Spanish, French, Mandarin, and Latin).
Compensation and Benefits:
This is a full-time position. The compensation package will include healthcare, free housing, both breakfast and lunch on school days, and a competitive salary.
