The USAID Zambia Enterprise Development and Growth Enhanced (EDGE) Activity is facilitating investment in high-potential agricultural SMEs in emerging markets through innovative financial products to a) generate both a financial return and positive impact for smallholder farmers and rural communities and b) increase the competitiveness of SMEs and their products. EDGE seeks 1 graduate student to be our 2021 Summer Volunteer for a 10-12 week opportunity working with the Lusaka-based USAID Zambia EDGE Activity. The Summer Volunteer will be an integral member of the EDGE Team working directly with EDGE’s Zambia-based Social Inclusion and Innovation Director, Monitoring, collaboratively with the Evaluation and Learning Senior Director, and in close collaboration with the Chief of Party.
The Zambia EDGE Project is requesting a Gender and Development Volunteer to carry out a business specific gender needs assessment with to two Small and Medium Enterprises. The selected volunteer will provide gender inclusivity training with clear impact measurements, among other activities.
Due to current travel restrictions, this assignment will take place remotely.
- The Volunteer will provide direct gender inclusive training to a minimum of 2 SMEs working in USAID’s approved value chains (Poultry, Aquaculture, Horticulture, Groundnuts, Honey and Animal Feed).
- Carry out a business specific gender needs assessment for each SME and develop a training plan with the selected businesses.
- Based on assessment findings, identify particular focus areas of coaching/training for each SME, with a clear set of expected outcomes.
