ABOUT AFS-USA:

AFS-USA is part of a worldwide network of AFS partner organizations that work together to advance global education and foster meaningful connections across cultures. As the network’s largest partner, AFS-USA works to increase the global competency of U.S. citizens by providing a variety of international and intercultural learning experiences to individuals, families, schools, and communities. We are proud of our Staff from our national office in New York City as well as home offices across the county, who collaborate with our more than 4,000 AFS-USA Volunteers to deliver high quality programs and global education resources. These include immersion-based study abroad experiences in over 40 countries worldwide; opportunities to host foreign AFS exchange students; and global learning workshops and curricula for educator, schools, and businesses.

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The Seasonal Hosting Advisor helps secure host family and school placements for incoming international exchange students. This role will assist the Regional Field Specialist (RFS) staff in lead generation, recruitment, screening, and monitoring host family applications as well as processes, paperwork, and data entry that supports the hosting recruitment effort to achieve measurable qualitative and quantitative goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

o Approximately 70% of the role will be focused on lead generation and host family recruitment

o Conduct web, social media, and/or phone research to identify special interest groups or individuals that may be interested in hosting or promoting hosting international exchange students

o Generate and publish daily social media content

o Assist with development and/or implementation of recruitment strategies in high priority/high need regions and teams

o Approximately 30% of the role will focus on researching school contact information and end dates to keep our database and placement information accurate

o Additional research will be conducted on state vaccination and quarantine requirements

o Draft supplemental placement paperwork or update student applications to support the Regional Field Specialist efforts to finalize host family placements.

o Assist in notifying host families when they can start to contact their host student

o Maintain strict adherence to US Department of State regulations, as well as CSIET and AFS standards and guidelines

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

o At least two years of college, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or Business degree, or equivalent work experience

o Experience with generating, editing, publishing, and/or sharing daily social media content (original text, images, video or HTML)

o Strong interpersonal skills

o Sales/Marketing experience

o Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word

o Strong verbal and written skills

o Professional phone service skills

o Ability to manage multiple priorities

o Excellent organizational skills

o Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds

o Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a virtual team

o Commitment to the mission and principles of AFS Intercultural Programs

o Cross-cultural experience is preferred but not necessary

o Microsoft Teams and Outlook knowledge preferred but not necessary

o Previous experience working remotely preferred but not necessary

Work is performed primarily from a home office.
