Digital Media Intern

Duration: 6 months

Start date: As soon as possible

Hours: 20 hours/week

Location: Remote

Compensation: $15/hour

Future outlook: The possibility of a part-time or full-time position based in Washington DC

Application period: Rolling until filled

The primary responsibility of the Digital Media Intern will be to provide assistance and support to ACW’s communications team, including helping with the website, social media platforms, designing publications, and visualization tools.

Key responsibilities:

  • Review content produced by ACW (publications, events, multimedia) and help create marketing materials
  • Write quotes, captions, paragraphs and other publicity text for posting on various social media platforms
  • Create and schedule social media posts, including for Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram
  • Assist in maintaining and managing ACW’s website and posting new content using WordPress
  • Help draft the weekly newsletter and other mass mailings using ConstantContact
  • Monitor and document media appearances and editorials by ACW fellows
  • Assist in compiling, managing, and updating mailing lists and media/press lists
  • Assist in producing social media and website analytics and reports
  • Help create graphics for social media and data visualization
  • Help in editing images, videos and podcasts
  • Other administrative and logistical tasks as needed

Additional Requirements:

  • Must meet all general requirements.
  • Working toward (or recent graduate of) a degree in communications, journalism, digital media, public relations, or a related field
  • Strong English language proficiency
  • Excellent technical skills and familiarity with multimedia applications, social media tools, Microsoft Office, and image editing
  • Familiarity with social media trends related to political and international affairs
  • Experience and familiarity working with HooteSuite, WordPress, and Adobe Photoshop
  • Previous experience and skills in graphic design and video/audio editing desirable
