ABOUT CAMBRIDGE FAMILY & CHILDREN’S SERVICE (CFCS)
Founded in 1874 by local businessman James Huntington with the vision of helping the growing number of homeless youth wandering the streets of 19th century Cambridge, we are a nonprofit that provides high-quality support and advocacy for children, adults, and families. Today, we serve over 1,500 people across Massachusetts every year. We work to develop and nurture safe, permanent relationships and maximize individual growth through our programs for adoption, intensive foster care, family support and stabilization, the support of individuals with developmental disabilities, and residential assistance.
We are a small agency that really gets to know our staff and supports their individual career goals. We believe strongly that no one, clients or staff, can do it alone–and all programs support each other. We try to promote from within whenever possible. We believe in “self-care” and often receive additional bonus days off. We have a staff-run Recreation and Activities Committee (RAC) that plans ongoing staff events, staff shout outs, yoga, and more. We also offer paid licensure for social workers.
