About Beyond Akeela
Beyond Akeela is a summer college readiness program for teens diagnosed with ASD, NVLD, ADHD or a similar profile. Beyond Akeela’s program is for campers between 10th-12th grade, structured in a way that develops social and independent living skills. Based in a college campus setting, participants are part of a community in which they practice independent living skills, experience adventure, and thrive socially. Beyond Akeela expands horizons, develops self-advocacy, and creates friendships that last a lifetime. The dynamic curriculum grows with teens each year they attend to meet the needs of their specific age group.
About this Job
Use your experience in Psychology, Social Work, Communication Sciences or Education to provide an incredible residential summer camp experience for a neurodiverse teens preparing for their college transition. Beyond Akeela is the best place to gain hands on experience working with teens on the autism spectrum and with similar profiles. We are seeking advisors who will use their knowledge and experience in youth development to facilitate the social success of our campers and help them work on their college readiness. Advisors play the role of a social facilitator, lead meaningful discussions on a variety of teen topics, and mentor neurodiverse teens as they approach a massive transition in their lives.
