Overview:

Installs, maintains, and periodically tests electronic security systems and equipment. Provides recurring SST vehicle support. Maintains, upgrades, and supports badging, alarm, and access control system components. Conducts strategic and long-term program planning and testing to ensure the protection of government property, personnel, vital equipment, facilities, classified matter, and SNM.

Responsibilities:

  • Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, overhauls, repairs, assembles, security systems electronic equipment and systems such as: computer based intrusion alarm systems, closed circuit TV system, radio communication, audio/visual systems, badging systems, access control system components.
  • Maintains, upgrades, and supports badging, alarm, and access control system components.
  • Conduct tests to evaluate calibration of security system alarm equipment. Repairs or makes adjustment as required to assure accuracy and reliability of the equipment.
  • Provides recurring SST vehicle support.
  • Maintains required response capability to address and resolve system malfunctions and communication failures.

Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable in Federal and State Laws and Regulations, Department of Energy (DOE) Orders, Manuals, Guides, and Standards, NNSA procedures, all NNSS site security procedures and policies to include extensive knowledge of the Site Security Plan requirements as they relate to Security Systems utilized to protect Special Nuclear Material, Classified Material, and DOE/NNSA facilities
  • Federal and State Laws and Regulations, Department of Energy (DOE) Orders, Manuals, Guides, and Standards, NNSS/NNSA and SOC policies, procedures, and orders
  • Skilled in Installation and maintenance of security systems electronic equipment and systems such as: computer based intrusion alarm systems, closed circuit TV system, radio communication, audio/visual systems, badging systems, access control system components.
  • Ability to use electronic equipment utilized to diagnose, calibrate, install, repair security system alarm equipment.
  • Knowledge and skilled in and a complete understanding and broad application of practical electronic trouble shooting techniques, technical standards, principles, theories, and concepts in the field of electronics and security systems. Requires general knowledge of other related disciplines and/or functions. Experience with intrusion detection systems specifically in the DOE/DOD environment is preferred.
  • High School or equivalent. Completion of technical or trade school training in electronics or equivalent.
  • Four (4) years’ experience, including electronics maintenance/installation on intrusion detection systems and devices preferred.
  • Successful participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP),
  • Valid US Driver’s License and be able to obtain a Nevada Driver’s License
  • DOE “Q” clearance authorization
