Sync/Licensing A&R Management Internship

As a ‘Sync/Licensing A&R Intern’, you will assist our Music Director, Walter Floyd, to vet, contact, pitch, and sign quality tracks & records for synchronization and licensing representation. You will also assist in the tracking of royalty accounts for all artists we represent, including any new artists onboarded during the internship. Additionally, you will be expected to assist us in locating published syncs and coordinate with the Digital Media Management intern and our Media Director, Ainara, to highlight our highest-profile placements across social media. Additional duties may also include the organization of assets, transcription of lyrics, and flagging improper and/or illegal licenses.

We will be available to provide ample training and guidance via video chats in order to ensure tasks are properly understood and skills are adequately learned. You are encouraged to seek additional assistance when vetting/scouting new artists in order to form an ear for the music that works best for sync operations.

A. Scouting New Talent

  • Important to stay up to date on trends from many different genres of music
  • Helping sign propper masters and assist artists seek collaborations with better singers and musicians to master our compositions.
  • Set aside regular time to look for new artists
  • Searching Spotify playlists
  • Scouring the “Following” section of the SoundCloud of artists who are doing well in sync
  • Searching Apple Music playlists
  • Contacting network of musicians known personally
  • Check in with Walter for approval of music before reaching out
  • Reaching out to artists who get the go-ahead
  • Emailing with samples of high-profile syncs & our official sync deck
  • Gauging their interest in licensing
  • Sending interested artists more samples + template agreement
  • Explaining to them our operations
  • Queuing their music for consultatory pitching if they are on board
  • Contracting the music once approved by partners
  • Securing signed and completed Exhibit A

B. Asset Collection

  • Will need mastered WAV files of all approved tracks including:
  • Full master with vocals (if applicable)
  • Instrumental without vocals or vocal samples/chops/yeahs/oos/aas (if applicable)
  • Clean version of explicit records
  • Will need 2 to 3 Horizontal Artist Images according to These Guidelines
  • Will need Sync & PRO details filled in for each track
  • Will need lyrics
  • Will need artwork for each track/record (1500 x 1500)
  • Lead conversation to secure content ID clearance
  • Send all gathered assets to respective partner

C. Tracking Royalty Accounts

  • Update artists monthly/quarterly (depending on account) on status of their syncs and outstanding royalties owed
  • Update artists quarterly on AdRev payments
  • Asking artists for new materials when sending assets

D. Working With Media Intern to Share High-Profile Syncs

  • Review most recent royalty accounts for high-profile and/or lucrative placements
  • Locate placements on the web
  • Do searches in Vimeo, YouTube, Instagram, & Facebook
  • If can’t be found individually contact rep who secured placement to see if they were sent a link
  • Send link to placement to media intern for them to caption and schedule a post

E. Wyn Sub – Label Division

  • You will use all the above skills you’ve learned to help build our label Wyn Records (Instagram + Facebook). More info to be sent soon.
