Learning Outcomes:
- Gain hands-on experience in functional food science, research methodologies, and journal publication standards.
- Develop skills in editing, proofreading, and scientific writing.
- Enhance knowledge of functional foods, chronic diseases, and personalized healthcare.
- Learn about scientific research databases and literature review processes.
- Develop communication skills through interaction with professionals in the field and social media marketing of published articles.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and collect data from scientific databases and journals such as Web of Science.
- Create documentation to assist the FFHD journal in maintaining standards and improving journal quality.
- Familiarize oneself with the rules and standards for scientific journals to gain exposure to the industry.
- Review unpublished articles for consistency, quality, and flow, particularly with scientific terms and data.
- Edit and generate content for the journal website, newsletters, and other platforms.
- Market newly published articles on social media platforms such as LinkedIn.
Requirements:
- University students (Biology, Science, Nutrition-related majors are welcome to apply).
- Good command of written English is required, as this role involves reading, reviewing, and assisting with scientific and editorial content.
- Ability to clearly understand and communicate feedback related to academic manuscripts and research materials.
- Strong editing, proofreading, and research skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Experience with LinkedIn and social media platforms is recommended but not required.
- Availability of 15–20 hours per week (200 hours in total).
Supervision:
Interns will be under the supervision of Dr. Martirosyan and our experienced team at the Functional Food Center. Throughout the internship, they will receive comprehensive guidance and support to ensure a fulfilling learning experience. In instances where academic credit is sought, it is mandatory to be supervised by Dr. Danik Martirosyan.

We utilize Microsoft Teams for regular communication, feedback, and assistance.
Additionally, Dr. Martirosyan is the Editor-in-Chief for the journals Bioactive Compounds in Health and Disease, Functional Foods in Health and Disease, and Functional Food Science, all of which are indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. This involvement provides interns with a unique opportunity to engage with cutting-edge research and publishing in the field.
Academic Credit:
While this is an unpaid internship, the company is willing to work with a student to receive academic credit. Upon completion of the internship, interns will receive certificates and other benefits outlined below.
