ABOUT GET US PPE
Get Us PPE is the largest national organization getting personal protective equipment (PPE such as masks, gloves, and isolation gowns) to frontline workers who need it most. As a nonprofit, we obtain PPE via donations and makers, then deliver it to under-resourced facilities at no cost to them. Fair and equitable distribution is vital to our mission.
Get Us PPE was founded by emergency physicians in late March 2020 in response to urgent PPE shortages. Within days, our team of 200+ volunteers from across the country came together to help. Our website has logged over 16,000 PPE requests, and we have delivered more than 2,750,000 units of PPE to nursing homes, hospitals, rural facilities, small clinics, homeless shelters, and indigenous communities. As our nation’s PPE shortage evolves, we evolve our organization to also provide for schools, those impacted by natural disasters, and others in the midst of the PPE crisis.
Project Leads are assigned to large donors and take the lead in coordinating distribution for them. They will report directly to the Deputy Director of Operations and will manage a small team of 1-3 callers. They are responsible for 1) obtaining all relevant information from PPE donors regarding donated items, 2) collecting donors’ preferences on where the items are to be donated, 3) asking the Algorithm team for a relevant potential recipients list, 4) communicating with the Health Equity and Healthcare Outreach teams on an as needed basis, 5) assigning recipients to contact to callers, 6) compiling information collected by callers into a finalized distribution list, 7) sending finalized list to donors and making adjustments as needed, 8) coordinating distribution logistics with Deputy Director of Operations if necessary, 9) following-up with donor and recipients to ensure donated PPE gets delivered and appropriately tracking match statuses on Gateway, and 10) communicating with the Development and Communications team to relay any relevant information for the creation of success stories.
