Graham Windham has pioneered programs for New York City’s disadvantaged children, families and communities since 1806. With an annual operating budget of $55.9 million – of which 92% goes directly toward programs – we provide 20 educational and social service programs at 11 community-based sites in Harlem, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Westchester for over 4,500 children and their families each year. Services include family foster care, adoption, foster care prevention through family strengthening, mental and behavioral health services, education, afterschool, out-of-school time, and youth development. Graham Windham employs approximately 460 full-time, 130 part-time/on-call staff; and manages more than 350 volunteers and interns.
About the Internship Opportunity
Graham Windham seek an intern that can plan and execute a conversational Spanish and/or Haitian Creole curriculum to assist staff in building a second language skill to communicate with the youth and families we serve in NYC. The facilitation will be strictly remote via zoom.
An internship with our agency is an opportunity to enhance your current skills and to learn about the child welfare system in New York City. We strive to match the services, structure and culture of our programs and departments with the skills, interests, and time availability of interns. We seek a undergraduate or graduate level interns interested in acquiring hands-on experience in our various programs.
Qualifications:
· Graduate students in Linguistic or Education majoring in Spanish and/or Haitian Creole
· Can commit to at least one semester (Winter and/or Spring)
· Must be highly computer and technology- savvy (Microsoft Office, Zoom)
