The Griffin Museum of Photography is a nonprofit organization dedicated solely to the art of photography. Through our many exhibitions, programs and lectures, we strive to encourage a broader understanding and appreciation of the visual, emotional and social impact of photographic art.
Located in Winchester, Massachusetts, the Griffin hosts three exhibition spaces in our main location, and two satellite galleries. Griffin @ Lafayette Center in Downtown Crossing Boston, and Griffin @ WinCam, the Winchester Community Access & Media.
Due to COVID -19 we have created a series of hybrid internships. Working in the museum and remotely to ensure a safe working environment for our interns, staff and guests to the museum.
The Griffin Museum Internship program is a well balanced all encompassing hands on internship, where every intern is considered part of the entire team. Interns have the ability to have an area of interest during their time at the museum while also working in all areas of museum operations.
Areas of Interest –
- Administration/ Exhibitions – hands on experience with arts administration, including record keeping, web and database support of our exhibition and events calendar, and support of overall operations. Works alongside our Associate Director.
- Programming – Assisting and implementing programs that serve our membership, creating marketing plans for programming, social media implementation. Works alongside our Programs Director.
- Communications/ Social Media – Working alongside the Associate Director, execute a social media strategy for exhibitions and programming. Work across multiple social media platforms using still and video media to highlight museum exhibitions and artists.
- Project-Based Internship- These internships are specifically focused on exhibition, artist outreach, social media, working with our Arthur Griffin Archive, and other initiatives as established by agreement between the intern and Griffin staff.
We would like at least a ten hour a week commitment for non-credit internships. These opportunities are unpaid, but are available for credit. Housing is not provided.
