Role and opportunity
Inu Capital is an operator-led private equity firm using the search fund model to acquire one or more established mid-sized companies to pursue long-term growth and value creation.
This internship offers the opportunity to get first-hand experience in the core activities of private equity and search funds, including sourcing, evaluating, financing, and acquiring private companies. Interns will work closely with Inu Capital’s founder, Noah Smith, a seasoned entrepreneur and private company investor.
Responsibilities
- Industry research & investment thesis development. Market research to identify and evaluate attractive industry segments for potential acquisitions.
- Deal sourcing & outreach. Identifying target companies (by using online databases and other sources) and conducting outreach efforts to engage target company owners.
- Financial analysis & due diligence. Analyzing target companies including through financial modeling and company and industry diligence efforts.
- Presentations and investment/deal memos. Preparing reports on companies and industries to support internal decision-making and to communicate with investors.
- Ad hoc tasks. Assist with other tasks and projects to support the fund’s operations.
Who should apply
- The role is open to undergraduate or graduate/MBA students as well as others interested in/considering private equity, search funds or “acquisition entrepreneurship.”
- Coursework or direct experience in business, finance, or accounting is a plus.
- Ideal candidates will be highly motivated, have a natural curiosity about how businesses work, a tenacious approach to research, and be able to work independently.

- Compensation: Unpaid, though can be used for course credit if available
- Location: Remote and/or at our office New York City
- Time commitment: 10-20 hours per week
- Duration: Flexible (2 months minimum)
