Applications are open for the Maine Government Summer Internship Program for summer 2021. Positions will be available in town and city governments and in agencies of the Maine state government. Full time, paid internships will run June 1 through August 20, for a total of 12 weeks.
The internship program comprises approximately 50 different internships. Students apply to the program at the same time as the supervisors request interns. Our selection committee then evaluates students based on skills and interests to fill the available positions. Reports from previous years, listed on our website, are good indicators of potential internships this year.
Each internship has specific qualifications and students are selected based on skills identified on their applications. Job areas include education, engineering, social media, conservation, law, data analysis, finance, and everything in between. All majors may apply.
Most internships are based in the Augusta area. A select number of internships will be available in other locations which in the past has included Bridgton, Caribou, Gray, Saco, Union, Sanford, Bethel, Presque Isle, Portland, Bangor, Rockland, and others. Some internships may be remote.
To be eligible, students must be completing at least their second year of college and be either a Maine resident or attending a college or university in Maine. Graduating seniors and graduate students are eligible. The application deadline is February 28, 2021.
Students apply online, submitting a cover letter, resume and unofficial transcript.
