Right now, there are 1,200 children waiting for adoption in Massachusetts foster care. Join our team to help us find adoptive homes for each and every one of these kids in need of a permanent family.
Description
Are you looking for communications experience? Join a 60+ year-old non-profit dedicated to child welfare and adoption. MARE develops public awareness and recruitment programs to inform the public about the children who wait, and who can adopt from foster care. We use these programs to attract potential adoptive families and then help them navigate the adoption process. These programs also serve to recruit adoptive families for specific waiting children.
This is a rigorous internship where you will focus on capturing and telling stories about children in foster care, families who adopt from foster care, and adopted youth. This role is ideal for communications or photography students looking to get into the field. You will interview families and youth, take photographs, and create content for MARE’s website, social media, and general communications.
Expected Tasks
- Travel to various sites across Massachusetts
- Interview youth and families
- Take high-quality photos
- Write stories and vignettes
- Edit photos in Photoshop or Lightroom
Requirements
The internship provides exposure to all levels and functioning of a small non-profit, including leadership, communications, public relations, fundraising and child/family social work. This allows for an opportunity to combine technical skills with assessment, communication and planning skills.
This role will require strong inter-personal skills, problem solving, and independent self-management.
