An internship with MWPC Provides an excellent opportunity to see the women’s political movement in action, while at the same time allowing for the exploration of the different aspects of public service and a non-profit organization. We are looking for energetic candidates to assist in our political action committee(PAC), graphic designer, data analytics, and marketing/communications. We make every effort to tailor internships to best suit the student’s strengths and needs. Internships are unpaid, but students may receive academic credit. Interns must set and stick to a regular work schedule with a minimum 12 hours per week.

Details on type of internship positions:

PAC intern:

Outcomes: Intern(s) will learn about each aspect of campaigning. Intern(s) will gain an understanding of effective political advocacy and non-profit organizational structure, and learn to facilitate a PAC endorsement process. Intern(s) will gain valuable event planning and facilitating skills. Intern(s) will learn basic volunteer management skills.

Requirements

-Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Gender Equality, or a related field, rising Juniors/Seniors preferred.

-Strong research and organizational skills.

-Ability to work independently and collaborate as needed

-Strong written and verbal communication skills

-Sense of responsibility and commitment to MWPC’s mission

-This is a min. 12-hours per week, unpaid internship.

-College Credit: We work with schools to ensure college credit is available, if applicable.

Responsibility:

-Provide candidate support during election seasons, including: recruiting volunteers and voter outreach.

-Participate in outreach to candidates to facilitate endorsement process; attend endorsement interviews and take notes.

-Provide support for key MWPC events.

-Other responsibilities will be assigned on an as-needed basis.

Graphic Design Intern:

Outcomes: Intern(s) will learn to design graphics, create content, and create attractive and consistent media. Intern(s) will gain an understanding of effective political advocacy and non-profit organizational structure.

Requirements

– Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or a related field (graphic design, visual communications, digital design), rising Juniors/Seniors preferred. -Strong creative and organizational skills.

-Ability to work independently and collaborate as needed

-Sense of responsibility and commitment to MWPC’s mission

​ -This is a min. 12-hours per week, unpaid internship.

-College Credit: We work with schools to ensure college credit is available, if applicable.

Responsibilities:

-Design graphics, event invitations and other media, draft digital media posts with a focus on online engagement.

Data Analytics Intern:

Outcomes:

Intern(s) will develop organization and tracking skills, and learn to manage competing priorities in an office setting. Intern(s) will develop the basic research skills as related to fundraising and candidate endorsements. Intern(s) will develop the ability to conduct research and utilize various media sources. Intern(s) will learn to assist in planning and executing a variety of events ranging in size, formality, and purpose. Intern(s) will gain an understanding of effective political advocacy and non-profit organizational structure.

Requirments

– Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Business Administration, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field, rising Juniors/Seniors preferred. -Strong analytical skills.

-Ability to work independently and collaborate as needed

-Strong written and verbal communication skills

-Sense of responsibility and commitment to MWPC’s mission

​ -This is a min. 12-hours per week, unpaid internship. -College Credit: We work with schools to ensure college credit is available, if applicable.

Responsibilities:

-Take responsibility for timely and accurate data entry as needed.

-Intern will research upcoming legislation, major fundraising donors, award nominees, and conduct candidate and field research.

-Intern will research venues and vendors for MWPC events, and provide technical and logistical support at events.

-Intern will use historical data to provide clear information on trends across the Commonwealth.

-Other responsibilities will be assigned on a needed basis.

Marketing and Communications Intern:

Outcomes:

Intern(s) will learn to use social media as an engagement tool, write with candidate voice or using organizational message, and create attractive and consistent media. Intern(s) will gain skills utilizing email communication tools, and the ability to write in various styles ranging from informal blog content to press release format. Intern(s) will gain an understanding of effective political advocacy and non-profit organizational structure.

Requirements

– Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration or a related field, rising Juniors/Seniors preferred. -Strong research and organizational skills.

-Ability to work independently and collaborate as needed

-Strong written and verbal communication skills

-Sense of responsibility and commitment to MWPC’s mission -This is a min. 12-hours per week, unpaid internship.

-College Credit: We work with schools to ensure college credit is available, if applicable.

Responsibilities:

-Create and push out events via digital media.

-Draft emails for MWPC and candidates, campaign materials for supported candidates, and press releases for MWPC as needed.

-Create content and maintain MWPC digital media.

-Other responsibilities will be assigned on an as-needed basis.
