Learn how nonprofits develop capacity and resources by inspiring their board of directors. Interns learn a wide range of strategies and best practices while supporting efforts in the areas board recruitment, advancement and engagement. Candidates should be creative, energetic, organized, and possess strong writing skills, as well as knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

- Assist Board Engagement Group in Board outreach, planning and engagement
- Conduct research including gathering information on similar institutions
- Assist with the planning and facilitation of special events including board meetings
- Provide constituent relationship management (CRM) support including data entry of contact information and records of conversation
- Coordinate and assemble mailings
- Assist with committee meetings
- Respond to Board member inquiries through telephone and/or written correspondence
- Perform special projects to be determined by Board Experience Group
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college or have graduated in the previous semester, pursuing a degree in marketing, communication, public relations, development, nonprofit management or a related field
- Must complete a minimum of 120 hours of work within the selected term
Internships at the National Aquarium provide hands-on and minds-on experiences that add value to any college education. Applying classroom knowledge, interns obtain valuable job experience and establish professional contacts.
College internship positions are available year-round in many departments throughout the Aquarium. The Aquarium makes every effort to match interns to work that complements their studies, interests, and skills. Students may apply for up to two internships per term; if more than two applications are submitted, only the first two will be considered.
