POSITION OVERVIEW:
Are you passionate about public service and eager to make a difference in your community? Senator Pavel Payano’s office is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as Legislative Interns. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience working alongside our dedicated professionals in various areas, including Constituent Services, Communications, and Legislative Affairs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Assist our Constituent Service Director in responding to inquiries and assisting constituents with various needs.
– Collaborate on casework, helping to resolve constituent issues related to state government services.
– Contribute to maintaining accurate records, databases, and CRM.
– Work closely with our communications Director on crafting engaging content for newsletters, press releases, and social media.
– Assist in media monitoring, researching relevant topics, and preparing briefing materials.
– Participate in planning and executing communication strategies to engage with the community.
– Collaborate with our Legislative Director on researching policy issues and proposed legislation.
– Attend hearings, meetings, and community events to learn about legislative processes.
– Assist in drafting legislation, tracking bills, and preparing policy memos.
QUALIFICATIONS/ JOB SKILLS
– Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
– A passion for community service and an eagerness to learn about the legislative process.
– Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
– Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
