Embedded Software Engineering Internship (13 or 26 weeks)
Robots in Service of the Environment (RSE) is a non-profit organization focused on developing robot technology to solve environmental problems. Established in the fall of 2015, the non-profit’s first project is to develop an undersea robot to slow the destruction caused by the lionfish, an invasive species that is drastically reducing biodiversity and coral reef health in all warm waters of the western Atlantic.
As part of your internship, you will be involved in the development of our ROS based software platform.
You must be able to check these boxes to qualify
ð Have completed your junior year in computer science or software engineering by the time you start.
ð A portfolio of relevant past engineering projects.
ð Strong grasp of C/C++ for embedded applications.
ð Experience with ROS
ð Experience Ubuntu on embedded computers
It is a plus if you can check these boxes
ð Experience with I2C bus
ð Experience with IMU
ð Experience with CV, AI and Machine learning
RSE office and lab is in Bedford, MA. You will need to travel to the Bedford lab to perform a portion of your work. The balance of you work may be done remotely if you wish.
Because the senior engineers who are guiding you are volunteers you may be required to tend virtual meetings in the evening. Testing schedules may also require you to work on a few Saturdays or Sundays at our ocean testing site in Marblehead. Provided you can effectively collaborate with other team members and provide 16 hours per week you are free to set your own schedule.
