Civil/Water Resources Engineer

Headquartered in McLean, VA, Solv is a small business that supports the mission of government and commercial clients by providing sustainable solutions based on sound engineering, science, economic, and management principles. Solv has an immediate need for a Civil/Water Resources Engineer to provide full-time support for watershed planning and other environmental and resilience efforts of federal clients in the Washington, DC metropolitan area and other locations nationwide.

Candidates must have 5 to 7 years of experience in several of the following areas: hydrologic and hydraulic modeling; flood elevation/profile determinations; the evaluation of irrigation and agricultural water supply systems (such as pressurized and open channel irrigation systems); the evaluation of the effects of dam construction/rehabilitation at the planning phase; and the evaluation of groundwater aquifer impacts from proposed projects.

Ideal candidates will have experience integrating engineering review considerations into interdisciplinary planning and policy documents, and she/he will be familiar with watershed planning in accordance with the federal Principles and Guidelines (P&G) and other federal agency-specific programmatic practices. Experience working with the Natural Resource Conservation Service, Bureau of Reclamation, or the Army Corps of Engineers is a plus. On top of the listed experience, additional geotechnical engineering experience would be considered favorably.

Candidates must be a registered professional engineer in at least one state. Candidates must have a BS in water resources engineering, civil engineering, agricultural engineering, environmental engineering, or a related engineering degree. An MS degree in these engineering disciplines is preferred. All candidates must possess outstanding oral and written communications skills.
