Join us in telling the story of Vermont’s forests and outdoor experiences as we work to connect Vermonters to the natural world around us. The Commissioner’s Office in the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation is seeking an intern to assist with a variety of communications initiatives. Projects range from developing creative content and gathering photos, videos, and stories from the field while shadowing field staff to planning outreach campaigns and schedules and organizing communications materials. Specific projects and areas of focus are flexible to best align with the intern’s skills and interests. This position is unpaid, but can be tailored to fit student course requirements or college credits. Experience in marketing or communications is preferred, but not required. An understanding of natural resources topics is helpful, but also not required.
Students should consult with academic faculty to determine if this unpaid experience will earn credit.
Start and end dates, schedule, and hours per week are flexible to best suit availability and areas of focus. While field work would best be completed at sites across Vermont, other work could be performed remotely or in person in the Department’s Montpelier office. Please contact Caroline for any questions or to learn more.
