JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE PROFILE

Job Title: Intern – Smart Building Performance Engineer

Reporting To: Director of Smart Building Engineering

Location: Denver, Colorado (or virtual)

Role Overview

Work with our customers to drive the successful implementation and application of the Switch Smart Building Platform for our customer’s real estate portfolios.

Areas of responsibility

  • Integrate new buildings and building systems into the Switch Platform
  • Configure fault detection and diagnostic logic (Smart Alerts)
  • Train new users and provide ongoing support
  • Perform engineering analysis on building systems to identify performance improvements and optimization opportunities
  • Perform project and account management responsibilities to drive customer success
  • Provide feedback to the product team using your expertise to suggest meaningful improvements to the Switch Platform
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Switch software and all the products, providing product feedback to continuously meet customer needs
  • Learn and improve the internal processes used by the various Switch teams, providing feedback on efficacy and uptake
  • Understand customer and partner requirements, including their technical competencies
  • Practice ongoing learning and development to learn about the Switch platform and the key competitive differentiators
  • Ensure the services we provide are in accordance with the strategic vision
  • Development a deep understanding of smart building technologies and architecture in order to understand customer desired outcomes
  • Develop the competencies to make persuasive presentations, including demonstrations of the Switch Smart Building Platform, to prospective customers, partners and influencers
  • Constantly update knowledge and learning of the industry, the competitive landscape, the Switch platform and all ancillary technologies through ongoing personal development

  • Learn and develop all technical and supporting systems used by the broader Switch team and specifically the Switch Customer success team
  • Foster and promote fellow team members by sharing information, education, learnings and introductions

Qualifications

  • Completing a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline
  • Desire to move beyond traditional MEP-style engineering work
  • Clear, concise and engaging communication skills
  • Ability to master a new software product quickly
  • Comfortable working autonomously and driving results without continuous supervision
