Do you have an inquisitive and analytical mind? Are you looking to further your career with practical experience in a critical global industry? If so, TeleGeography’s summer internship could be an ideal next step for you. We’re looking for self-motivated and capable candidates to fill full-time, paid positions for our 12-week summer internship.
So who is TeleGeography? We’re a boutique research firm in the heart of Washington, D.C. that tracks the development of global communications infrastructure. We’re a nimble team that values professionalism, competence, and adaptability. The small size of our workforce and our flexible management hierarchy give each team member exceptional exposure to a variety of functions within the organization.
What does TeleGeography’s internship entail? Our summer internship program offers a unique opportunity for students to interact with leading industry experts and to learn about telecom networks and infrastructure. Interns conduct extensive company surveys and engage in research to gather information on data center facilities, operations, and enterprise data services. Their work directly contributes to the core research used in our Data Center Research Service and Business Broadband Research Service products.
At TeleGeography, we go beyond basic job functions. Always keeping the context of our work at the forefront, we offer interns extensive opportunities to learn about different functions of the company and the markets we research through a weekly discussion series. This series covers a wide array of topics, including overviews of the wholesale carrier market, pricing dynamics, TeleGeography’s use of marketing analytics, and our approach to consulting.
What do we need from you?
Due to the extraordinary circumstances surrounding the Covid-19 outbreak, it is highly likely that this year’s TeleGeography internship will be conducted remotely. Given this situation, it’s imperative that you:
- Are a strongly self-motivated worker who can thrive in an isolated work environment while coordinating with a team virtually.
- Have access to high-speed internet and a good computer. TeleGeography will remotely provision access to software and databases as needed.
If you’ve checked these boxes, read on. We’re also looking for people with these qualities.
- Strong research acumen, particularly in conducting in-depth internet research with an international reach.
- Adeptness at navigating databases and spreadsheets with an eye for data analysis.
- Engaging and effective communication skills.
- Demonstrated strength in detail-oriented work.
- Foreign language skills are a plus, as much of the research will be conducted with companies outside the U.S.
Our interns come from a variety of backgrounds and go on to do great things. While many of our students specialize in international affairs, they represent a variety of academic fields including commerce, market analytics, policy, and geography. Alumni of the TeleGeography internship go on to pursue careers in business, consulting, law, and diplomacy.
If TeleGeography sounds like a good fit for you, please send both a cover letter and a resume to email@example.com. No phone calls, please.
