Design Internship
The intern will be responsible for assisting in various aspects of design, and other day-to-day activities. The intern will be supervised by one of our designers and work closely with various team members, including product development and merchandising.
During the internship, the student will have the opportunity to:
- Assist design team members and leaders with trend reports, sample coordination, pricing coordination, artwork, and organizational and departmental administration.
- Gain exposure to and participate in design presentations
- Organize documentation and reference materials
- Coordinate return of dropped styles/dropped colors/incorrect samples
- Help put prototypes into work with factories following direction from designer – process involves organizing tech packs with detailed instructions, flat sketches, CADs, color cards, pitch sheets, swatches, and trims.
- Assist in coloring of styles.
- Assist in checking samples
- Assist in organizing, creating, and setting up presentation materials and showroom visuals in preparation for design meetings/walk-throughs.
- Help maintain and organize all development binders, development spreadsheets, specs, DAFs, pitch sheets, archives, and research materials so they are easily obtainable during design season and accessible for future seasons.
- Work with mailroom staff to see that packages are messengered, shipped, and/or received by respective party.
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing BA degree in Textile or Apparel Design. We want interns who are smart, curious and excited to learn to join the team for the summer
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work well with a team, take initiative and direction and follow-through
- Some knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office Word a must
- Must have housing available in the NY Metro area
- Must have authorization to work in the US
- Photoshop, Illustrator, PLM, MS Outlook a plus
- In-person internship
- Monday-Thursday schedule (30 hours/week)
