Fall 2021 Blockchain in Practice Internship
Deadline to Apply: August 2, 2021
The Blockchain in Practice BiP Program offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in the field non-proliferation, international security and blockchain technology. Efforts are currently focused on studying the impact of distributed ledger technology DLT on organizations and people within four main streams: nuclear safeguards, nuclear security, export controls and the peaceful trade of dual-use chemicals. The virtual internship will focus on DLT efforts that are cross-cutting with other programs at Stimson.
Internship opportunities include an independent project, presentation, feature article on the website, and the contribution of analysis-driven content to program projects. Although virtual, the BiP team prioritizes providing networking opportunities and professional development experiences to the intern, including participating in program meetings with international security experts and setting up one-to-one informational interviews. Stimson interns are encouraged to attend both internal and external events, such as security-related events, blockchain forums, and resume-building workshops.
Internship responsibilities include research, writing, and editing program publications, coordination of events, representing Stimson at meetings and related events, and administrative support. Strong candidates have a significant interest in blockchain/DLT for international security, a strong understanding of blockchain/DLT, and strong interest in innovative solutions to nonproliferation challenges. The desired candidate should have experience in research, writing, and editing, great attention to detail, flexibility to work independently or as a team, and a commitment to high-quality work. While not required, other qualities considered an asset would include additional language skills, full-time availability, and experience in nonproliferation.
Applicants must submit a resume, cover letter, and writing sample less than 5 pages as a single PDF to be considered. Please include at least one reference with your application. Note, the internship is unpaid and requires a commitment of at least 20 hours per week. A small internship stipend is available to virtual interns. After the internship deadline closes, applicants will receive notice if they have been chosen to proceed to the interview round. After the interview, applicants will be notified whether they have or have not been selected for the internship. Apply today:https://www.stimson.org/careers/employment/.
