Professor Cross’ lab focuses on using technology to support teachers and increase students’ technological fluency, creativity, and computational thinking through transdisciplinary technology integration and education-focused human-robot interaction. During the summer Professor Cross will oversee two research projects as well as the HS Engineering Workshop series. Research Assistants for the Robots in Science project and Online Professional Development projectResearch assistants will be helping to review video recordings from classrooms using robotics kits in middle school physical science classes, selecting and editing interesting video clips, and assisting with research analysis. Research assistants may also help to prepare materials and activities for a 1-week online teacher training workshop for the research project. Applicants must be able to understand and transcribe audio recordings and video recordings in English and be able to read and summarize research articles in English. (We will teach you how to use transcription software.) Experience with qualitative data analysis is a plus but not required. We will teach you how to analyze data.
