Title: Operations and Database Intern (Summer 2021)
Direct Supervisor: Office Manager
Indirect Supervisor: Director of Operations
Hours: 15-30 hours per week, 3-5 days per week
Compensation: $15/hr or Course Credit
About the Position
Our diverse and inclusive team is looking for a summer intern to support the Operations team as
we support the life and culture shifting work our consultants do: creating and delivering Diversity,
Equity, and Inclusion training to organizations of all shapes and sizes. This is the critical “behind
the scenes” work that makes or breaks reputations – the logistics behind Great Ideas. This job is
about making lists, making lists of your lists, and chasing down each and every deliverable from
people to keep our nonprofit doing the work.
The Operations internship provides the opportunity to learn about the inner workings of an
expanding nonprofit organization that is going through an operational transition. You will support
the coordination of tech support for our DEI workshops with national and international
organizations and companies, and will be responsible for some key internal operations
communications and record-keeping. You will also have the opportunity to participate in the
conceptualization and implementation of a new database structure which will include exposure
to proper data cleaning techniques and report creation.
Day-to-day work will include creating and running tech support for virtual trainings on Zoom,
creating online evaluation surveys, creating and cleaning up data in our client database, regular
project status report emails for multiple projects, as well as misc. other tasks as needed.
By helping with these tasks, not only will you be assisting our consultant corps in doing
important work, but you are part of the process of creating change in the world and allowing
positive change to happen in our clients.
The ideal candidate will be deeply detail-oriented and organized. They will be comfortable
asking questions, learning from mistakes, as well as being able to practice systematic thinking.
They will also be fluent in MS Office Suite (especially Excel), Google Suite (especially Calendar
and Drive), and Zoom.
